Targeted Quantitation and Screening of Multi-Class Chemical Pollutants in Coastal Environments
This technical study investigates the presence of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and illicit drugs in coastal waters impacted by wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Using the SCIEX 7500 system, the method enables targeted quantitation of 132 known contaminants and broad screening for 341 emerging pollutants. With detection limits as low as 1 ng/L, the study highlights the widespread presence of chemical residues in coastal environments, emphasizing the need for routine monitoring and environmental risk assessments.
